As you may know, PowerSchool is a real-time grading program. If you are signed up for PowerSchool, either with the app or on the website, you are able to check you student’s progress as soon as the teacher enters the grade. Due to the immediacy of this technology the need for formal report cards has disappeared and therefore we have decided to not send home printed report cards for junior and senior high students.
In June we were left with approximately 50 unclaimed report cards. This led us to question if it was a redundant practice considering the ability to see student progress online. Environmentally this online system makes sense as well as we will not be printing report cards for those who do not want nor need them.
We do still have “formal” report card dates. Essentially all this really means is that teachers will have personalized comments and any adjusted marks completed by the report card date.
The first report card date for junior and senior high students is Friday November 9th. Throughout the week you should see marks being adjusted as assignments are added and updated. As well, you should see teacher comments appearing.
If you have not signed onto the parent portal for PowerSchool please do so as soon as possible. The instructions are attached to this letter. Joanne and Christine will also be glad to offer assistance.
Thank you for your patience as we all transition towards our new normal. Please contact the office if you have any questions. 403-442-3872.
